In this article, I'll show you how to write your academic papers efficiently by using the great tool called <\/span>Zotero <\/strong>is used. It is the ultimate solution for organising your research sources and citing your sources correctly and effortlessly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Zotero?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Before we dive into the details, let's take a look at why Zotero is an invaluable tool for your studies at the DHBW. Zotero is a free open-source software designed specifically for <\/span>researchers <\/strong>and <\/span>students <\/strong>. Not only does it enable you to <\/span>organise <\/strong>\u00a0to <\/span>sources<\/strong>, but also enable you to <\/span>cite correctly<\/strong> and <\/span>create bibliographies <\/strong>at ease. Completely automatic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Du f\u00fcgst deine Quellen in Zotero ein (am Computer, am Tablet oder am Handy) und zitierst sie w\u00e4hrend du schreibst. Am Ende f\u00fcgst du eine Bibliographie ein, mit einem Klick, und bist bereit f\u00fcr die Abgabe. Zotero ist Citavi sehr \u00e4hnlich, die Lizenz f\u00fcr Citavi an der DHBW ist aber mittlerweile ausgelaufen. Step-by-step instructions for Zotero at the DHBW<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Step 1: Installing Zotero<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

To use Zotero, you must first <\/span>download <\/strong>and <\/span>install<\/strong>Zotero. Visit the official <\/span>Zotero<\/strong><\/a>website, download the application and install it on your computer. Zotero is available for Windows, Mac and Linux alike.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Step 2: Set up your account<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

After the installation <\/span>create <\/strong>a <\/span>Zotero<\/strong>–<\/span>account <\/strong>. This allows you to share your literature data between your different devices like <\/span>with a tablet or mobile\u00a0<\/strong>but also safely <\/span>store your library<\/strong>. Please do not skip this step.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 3: The Zotero browser extension<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

Zotero offers a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Download this extension to import your <\/span>sources directly <\/strong>from the <\/span>internet <\/strong>\u00a0to <\/span>your library<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zotero automatically detects <\/span>literature metadata<\/strong>as you surf the Internet. Do you need an article from JSTOR or a preprint from arXiv.org? A news item from the S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung or a book from the National Library? Zotero is your companion, everywhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 4: Add your literature sources<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Once you have installed the extension, you can easily import literature sources from websites, online libraries and catalogues. Your sources are automatically organised in your <\/span>Zotero<\/strong>–<\/span>library<\/strong>. See in the below picture in the top right corner, Zotero automatically detects <\/span>the item type <\/strong>and you can select the collection in which you want to save the item.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 5: Install Word Processor Integration<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Zotero creates <\/span>in-text citations or footnotes and bibliographies for any text editor in no time, directly in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. This integration will be installed automatically for you when you install Zotero, regardless of whether you use Word or another supported program. You will then find a new <\/span>tab <\/strong>called <\/span>Zotero <\/strong>in the menu bar in Word.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sollte diese Leiste nicht auftauchen, k\u00f6nnt ihr entweder die Erweiterung nochmals installieren. Hierzu einfach in Zotero in den Einstellungen unter „Zitieren“ runterscrollen und unter „Textverarbeitungsprogramme“ k\u00f6nnt ihr auf „Microsoft Word Add-on nochmals installieren“ klicken.
